This course is designed to support the basic and advanced RPAS Pilot Certificate candidate to successfully complete the Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Certificate Exam. With the release of new Transport Canada regulations governing the use of Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (RPAS / RPAS / DRONE), 43 Degrees North is offering a 3-day ground school covering the syllabus published by Transport Canada. This course will enable those who wish to work safely and in adherence with the upcoming regulations governing RPAS’ in the commercial aviation operating environment.
43 Degrees North which is listed on the self-declared ground school providers is recognized as a provider of services meeting or exceeding the syllabus set forth by Transport Canada (TP 15263) and within this declaration is the expectation that at least 20 hours of instruction be provided. 43 Degrees North is also an accredited examiner for Industry Canada to provide the Radio Operators Certificate - Aviation (ROC-A) which allows the certificate holder to legally operate radio systems in the aviation frequency bands. Holding a ROC-A is strongly recommended so as to facilitate communications with any aircraft or air traffic control.
Per Transport Canada Syllabus TP 15263:
It is strongly recommended the pilot operating a RPAS system shall have successfully completed a pilot ground school program that provides instruction on the following subject areas:
Ø Air Law – Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM) – applicable content
Ø Navigation – Aviation maps, charts and Canadian Flight Supplement (CFS), planning and on-line sources of information
Ø Aerodromes and Airspace
Ø Meteorology – Aviation weather concepts, planning and on-line sources of information
Ø Aeronautics – General Knowledge
Ø Theory of Flight – General Principles and Concepts
Ø Flight Instruments – General Principles and Concepts
Ø Flight Operations – including the “NEW” RPAS VOLS Operations
Ø Human Factors in Aviation covering basic Psychology and Physiology
Ø Radiotelephony – with examination to obtain Industry Canada Radio Operator’s License - Aviation
